The Saints scored with 1:34 left in a ten-minute overtime, trailing by one, with Detroit due to receive the kickoff. An extra point makes it 31-31 and hands the ball to Jared Goff at home needing a field goal. New Orleans' best outcome from kicking was a draw it probably does not get — which is why the two-point try was the least objectionable decision the Saints made all afternoon.
